Alia Zeitoun: The Recent Grad
When it came time for Alia Zeitoun to pick a college to attend, it was a no-brainer.
“Both of my brothers graduated from Mason,” explains Zeitoun. “I thought it was the best fit for me because of its diversity of students.”
Though Zeitoun just graduated in May with a BS in Accounting and a minor in Economics, she didn’t approach Commencement with the worry of many other job-seeking recent grads—she had already found a job, thanks to Mason.
“Using HireMason [the student job site run by Career Services], I was able to get a job offer in my junior year with one of the big four accounting companies in the world,” Zeitoun says. “Mason made my dreams come true. I have an amazing career lined up for me now.”
But Mason wasn’t all career preparation for Zeitoun, she was also involved in an array of activities: the Muslim Student Association, Arab Student Association, Pakistani Student Association, and yearbook staff.
“I played with the Arab Student Association in my senior year in the International Week soccer tournament where we finished second in the competition,” Zeitoun recalls with pride.
But the most lasting impression Zeitoun has of Mason? All of the friends she made here.
“Mason’s diverse student body made it so easy for me to find friends who share the same background and beliefs,” Zeitoun says. “Now, my friends are a part of my family.”
Favorite Mason Memory:
Graduating alongside all of my friends and having my family there to support me.
Why People Should Vote For Me:
I think people should vote for me because I truly love Mason! It’s the place where I had the best four years of my life. The place where I learned so much about who I am as a person and made me who I am today! I couldn’t be grateful enough.
Please check the blog on Monday, July 19, to vote for Alia Zeitoun for Mason’s Biggest Fan.
