1970s

Patricia M. Ralph, B.A. English '70, moved to Miami, Fla., to be near her son, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. She is involved with community affairs and regional theater.

Dorothy K. Blum, B.A. Psychology '71 and Ph.D. Education '96, founded S.E.L.E.C.T., Inc. in 1987 and serves as the organization's president. S.E.L.E.C.T. specializes in the development and maintenance of employee assistance programs, which offers services for employees looking for education, counseling/consultation, or treatment.

Kenneth D. Reid, B.S. Biology '72, is the executive vice president of the American Water Resources Association and has been chosen to receive the 2000 Key Award, the American Society of Association Executives' highest honor given to members.

Bonnie Atwood, B.A. Psychology '74, has been appointed by Governor Gilmore to be a member of the State Rehabilitation Board for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mike Rowan, B.A. English '78, lives in Pensacola, Fla., with his wife, Robin, and daughter, Rachel. He is a producer/director with Vision Design Productions, a subsidiary of CBS-affiliate WKRG-TV.

M. Jane Wietsma, M.A. Psychology '79, lives in Rome, Italy, with her husband and two boys (ages 12 and 9), and she substitute teaches at the Ambrit International School.

1980s

John (J.T.) Spence, B.A. Geography '81, commissioner of the City of Covington, Ky., collaborated with the late David Allor, planning professor at University of Cincinnati, in writing a chapter in the recently published book Urban Planning in a Multicultural Society.

David M. Ozgo, B.S. Economics '83 and M.A. Economics '89, a former policy analyst for the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, Inc., has rejoined the association as vice president of Economic and Strategic Analysis.

Marie Jenkins Schwartz, B.A. History '84 and M.A. History '87, is an assistant professor of history at the University of Rhode Island. Her book, Born in Bondage: Growing Up Enslaved in the Antebellum South ( Harvard University Press) was highlighted in The Chronicle of Higher Education, June 23, 2000 in "Nota Bene."

Thomas W. Dussault, B.S. Public Administration '86, has been selected as the president and CEO of Peak Consulting in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Deborah Doane, B.A. Communication '87, will marry Roy Manoll III in March 2001. They plan to live in Athens, Ga.

Stacey R. Simkins, B.A. English '88, is working at George Mason in the English Department while pursuing studies in mediation and conflict management/resolution.

Omar Altalib, B.A. Sociology and Economics '89, presented his paper, "Teaching Advice for College Instructors," at the annual meeting of the North Central Sociological Association in Pittsburgh, Penn.

Rosemarie Costas, B.A. Psychology '89, married Craig Bogan on April 22, 2000. She is working as a human resources administrator at Marriott Employee's Federal Credit Union in Bethesda, Md., and completed certification in professional human resources with the Society for Human Resources Management in the summer of 1999.

1990s

Noreen Clough, M.S. Biology '90, retired from the Fish and Wildlife Service after 30 years in July 1997. In 1999, she formed her own consulting firm, NKC Environmental Consulting, and contracts natural resource management operations and program management.

Victoria Dobbins, B.A. Art '90, has moved back to Virginia this summer and resides in Yorktown.

Danny Drotos, B.A. Studio Art '90, completed a sculpture commission for ESPN Zone in Washington, D.C., and is represented by Anton Gallery in Washington where he presented a solo exhibition of paintings in June 1999.

Fred Foldvary, M.A. Economics '90 and Ph.D. Economics '92, published the book Dictionary of Free-Market Economics, (Edward Elgar Publishing, 1998).

Tamara James, M.A. Psychology '90, has been appointed to the Duke University faculty in the Department of Community and Family Medicine as a clinical associate. She started the ergonomics program at Duke seven years ago and it is now a highly recognized, successful program.

Eric Hunter Lindenberg, B.S. Public Administration '90, married NoraAnn Hundelt on September 18, 1999, in Overland Park, Kan., and they are expecting a baby in November. Eric received his Black Belt in Kenpo Karate in April 2000.

Suzanne McCann, B.A. Communication '90, received a master's in occupational therapy from the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia in 1994, and married Doug McCann at the U.S. Naval Academy in 1998. Their daughter, Mary Grace, was born on September 16, 1999.

Lisa Routh, B.A. Psychology '90, is in private practice for psychotherapy and court-ordered domestic violence groups for perpetrators. She teaches classes at Pikes Peak Community College and is doing research to complete a doctoral degree.

Tracey Short, B.A. Communication '90, has two terrific children, Spencer, 2, and Samantha, 41/2.

Nara Sihavong, B.A. International Studies '90, is working on an M.B.A. at Chaminade University of Honolulu.

R. Scott Sokol, B.A. English '90, conquered Mt. Gibbs in Nepal with fellow alumni, Scott Farmery, B.S. Public Administration '90, Arthur Addison, B.A. History '96, and Andrew Goldberg, B.A. Economics '90. He is preparing for Mt. Everest in 2002!

Brad Steele, B.A. Government and Politics '90, an attorney in Muncie, Ind., was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives for the second district of Indiana in the primary on May 2, 2000.

Kelly Thorpe, B.S. Psychology '90, was licensed as a clinical social worker in the state of Florida in May 1998. Her son, Andrew James Thorpe, was born on February 2, 1999.

Paige (White) Wessel, B.A. Art History and History '90, has opened a Medicap Pharmacy in Virginia Beach with her husband, Michael Wessel.

Tracy Evans, B.A. Speech Communication and Mass Media '91, is producing a Lifetime Television daily show, The Things We Do for Love, as a freelance TV producer. Other clients of hers include Extra, E! Entertainment Television, and Ivanhoe Broadcast News.

Laurel E. (Kellum) Williams, B.A. Government and Politics '91, has been promoted to captain, U.S. Army Reserve, Military Intelligence Branch, in April 2000. She graduated from Duquesne University Law School on June 4, 2000 with a J.D. degree.

Cameron Gray, B.A. Communication '92 and M.A. Telecommunication '99, a long-time associate producer/guest coordinator of G. Gordon Liddy's nationally syndicated radio talk show, left to form a new company, Cameron Gray Communications.

Zina (Michael) Beasley, B.A. Communications '93, worked for five years as a paralegal, got married, and is now a full-time mom to her son, Anthony Michael, who is 18 months.

Scott C. Bowen, B.A. History '93, manages an apartment complex during the day as a property manager for Capital City Properties in Washington, D.C., and manages a community center in McLean, Va., in the evening. He is single and married to his work!

Steven Dolven, B.A. International Studies/Area Studies Latin America '93 and M.A. International Transactions '95, had a son, Will, born on October 14, 1999. He opened the Atlanta East Coast office of Datasite, Inc.

Juhee Park, B.S. Biology '93, is married and has two children, a two-year-old son and three-month-old daughter. He has opened his own practice as an optometrist, Crystal Vision Center, in Pennsylvania.

Carrie Beeton Harley, B.A. English '94, married Christopher Harley of Westlake Village, Calif., in October 1999.

Marcus A. Johnson, Jr., M.P.A. '94, a foreign service officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development, currently assigned to the Central Asian region, will marry Natalya Komarova in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Melissa Unterseher, B.A. Sociology '94, was promoted to work in a new program, Project Spotlight, as a senior juvenile probation officer in Austin, Tex. This program has police officers and probation officers working together to monitor high-risk drug and/or gang-involved youth offenders on court-ordered probation. Anita Jones, B.A. Communication '95, has joined Witeck-Combs Communications as a communications strategist. Jones formerly worked for Feld Entertainment, Inc., where she oversaw the public relations efforts for five Disney on Ice productions that toured nationally.

Wendie Leung, B.A. Biology '95, lives in Hong Kong and volunteers at the Hong Kong International School's high school library.

Philip H. Gratwick, M.A. History '96, is joining the Peace Corps and will move to Moscow to work in a pedagogical institute where he will teach college-age Russians to become English teachers. He is thrilled about this two-and-a-half-year assignment.

Mark Kevin Hoffpauir, B.A. Geography '96, graduated from University of Baltimore Law School in January 2000 and passed the Maryland Bar. In April 2000, he became a second lieutenant in the Maryland National Guard reserve component.

Nikki Kemezis, B.A. Speech Communication '96, works for E! Entertainment Television in Los Angeles and was recently promoted to producer of E!'s Fashion Review with Joan and Melissa Rivers.

Pamela Todd Pifer, B.S. Mathematics '96, married Dion Ivan Pifer on April 8, 2000.

Matt Rampetsreiter, B.S. Biology '96, completed Podiatry School and earned a D.P.M. in June 2000 from College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. He will be participating in a two-year podiatric medicine and surgical residency program at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital.

Andrea C. Todd, M.A. English and T.E.S.L. Certificate '96, has completed her course work for an Ed.D. in higher education administration from George Washington University.

Rahul Krishna Gairola, B.A. English and Film and Media Studies '97, has been accepted in the English department's Ph.D. program at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Kristin E. Keckeisen, B.A. Government and Politics '97, managed Linda T. "Toddy" Puller's successful campaign for Virginia state senator in 1999.

Wes Traish, B.A. Psychology '97, has joined Fort Dodge Animal Health, a leading manufacturer and distributor of prescription and over-the-counter animal health care products, as territory manager for New York and Connecticut in the companion animal division.

Lea M. Weiss, B.S. Administration of Justice '97, and her husband, Christopher, announce the birth of their son, Lucas Christopher Weiss, born on June 27, 2000 in Fairfax, Va.

Benjamin Young, B.A. English '97, is working as a sales representative for BioGuard Pool & Spa Products in Michigan and Indiana.

Zachary Amis, B.A. History '98, is starting course work toward a master's in history at California State University in Sacramento, this fall.

Sara J. (Lee) Crowe, B.A. Sociology '98, married Geoffrey L. Crowe on March 25, 2000, in Annandale, Va. They went on a two-week honeymoon to Hawaii and now live in Alexandria, Va.

Mark Hersey, M.A. History '98, works as a team leader in the research development of bigdough.com and has started work toward a doctoral degree at Catholic University.

Joshua Jay Semerjian, B.A. Speech Communication '98, is a communications technician at the University of Denver and will start work on a master's degree in human communication studies there this fall.

Jenny F. Cadena, B.A. Communications '99, has been on national TV and moved to California to follow her dreams.
