George Mason's newest almuni were congratulated by President Alan Merten at the extrava GRADza! event immediately following Commencement.

The Graduate Creative Writing Alumni Chapter
will participate again in the second annual Fall for the Book, a literary festival presented by George Mason University, the City of Fairfax, and the Washington Post. The free, public festival will be held September 21-24, 2000. For more information, please check the website at www.fallforthebook.org or call (703) 993-3986.

Mason Alumni in the San Francisco Bay Area
enjoyed a happy hour get-together on July 14, 2000. The social event was arranged by Fred Jorgensen, B.A. '95, who anticipates the group will have more of these gatherings in the coming months. Call for Nominations

Alumni Awards and Scholarships are presented annually at the Alumni Association's Celebration of Distinction, which will be held on April 19, 2001. Nominations for the 2001 awards are now being accepted. Nomination forms and criteria are available on the web at www.gmu.edu/alumni. Please send us your nomination for the Alumni Service Award, Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award, and Faculty Member of the Year Award.

Also, please encourage any deserving students to apply for the John C. Wood Scholarship, the John C. and Louise P. Wood Graduate Scholarship, the Peter C.
