New Students Arrive

During orientation this summer, members f the Class of 2004 met their future classmates while painting their names on the wall of Performing Arts Building

As of July 1, 2000, more than 2,200 freshmen and 2,000 transfer students had declared their intention to enroll at George Mason in fall 2000. Eighty-five percent of the new freshmen are from Virginia. The other 15 percent are from 34 different U.S. states, the District of Columbia, 2 U.S. territories, and more than 40 different foreign countries. The academic quality of the freshman class has risen, with a 15-point increase in the SAT average and a 0.07-point increase in the grade point average. Final data on new freshmen and transfers for fall 2000 will be available in mid-October.
