1970s

Pamela Webber, B.S.N '77 and M.S.N. '81, was honored as one of the 51 pioneers in nursing for the century by the Virginia Nurses Association and the Virginia Nurses Foundation. The award was presented during the week of the Nurse Celebrating a Century Gala on May 3, 2000.

1980s

Art Hammarstrom, B.S.N. '80 and M.S.N. '97, is working in an internal medicine practice with a solo physician.

Maureen Haberman, B.S.N. '86 and M.S.N. '99, is working full time as a certified family nurse practitioner at Prime Care Family Medical Center in Annandale, Va., a combined urgent care/primary care facility serving a multicultural, multigenerational population.

1990s

Maria Schillen, B.S. Medical Technology '90, is a captain select in the U.S. Air Force Reserve stationed at Homestead A.F.B., Fla., and works in the surgical coronary care unit at Cedar Medical Center in Miami.

Patricia Nelsen, M.S.N. '91, coordinates health occupations education for Fairfax County Public Schools and is the director of their practical nursing program.

Joanne Langan, M.S.N. '94 and Ph.D. '99, has been on the faculty of George Mason's College of Nursing and Health Science since 1994 and served as the co-project director of the Washington Regional Academic and Community Consortium. She is leaving Mason to return home to St. Louis, Mo., with her family, but she plans to remain connected with Mason, her first professional "home."

Mary Lynn Booker, B.S.N. '94 and M.S.N. '98, a certified family nurse practitioner, is working for King William Community Doctors in Aylett, Va.

Donna Vandiver, B.S.N. '94, works in a small rural community in the Texas panhandle with a large geriatric population. She works with hospice patients, medical surgical patients, and as an ER nurse.

Zita B. Buky, B.S.N. '95 and M.S.N. '99, is working in Alexandria, Va., in a pulmonary/critical care practice which includes hospital, nursing home/long-term care, ventilator-dependent patients, and office patients.

Judy Chan, B.S.N. '95, received an M.S. in Adult Nurse Practitioner on May 26, 2000 from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She will relocate back to the Washington, D.C., area to start work as a nurse manager on the orthopedics unit at Sibley Memorial Hospital.

Jennylynn Pickett, B.S.N. '95, is an occupational health nurse for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and received an award for achieving the highest score on the professional certification exam at the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses Conference in May 2000.

Carol King Starling, Ph.D. Nursing '95, a clinical assistant professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, received the Phyllis Keeney Lawrence Teaching Award for her dedication and innovation in nursing education.

Darla Anderson, B.S.N. '96 and M.S.N. '97, works full time as a family nurse practitioner at the Fairfax Family Health Clinic and enjoys gardening, bicycling, and travelling.

Stacey Hersh, M.S.N. '97, is a family nurse practitioner at Dewitt Army Hospital, Ft. Belvoir, Va. She also works part time as a George Mason faculty member, working with nurse practitioner students.

Patricia Tawil, B.S.N. '98, teaches in the Alexandria Public School System's L.P.N. program and teaches birth and parenting classes for Inova Health Source.

Judy Gentry, M.S.N. '99, is a family nurse practitioner for Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va. She works on a mobile health van serving the underinsured and uninsured population of Fredericksburg City, and Caroline, King George, Westmoreland, Colonial Beach, and Spotsylvania Counties.

Anne Nyman, B.S. Nursing '99, is a family nurse practitioner student at Georgetown University Graduate School of Nursing.
