ARTS & SCIENCES1970s Enver B. Hoff Jr., B.A. History '70, earned a Doctor of Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in December 1997. Anne Morris Hooke, B.S. Biology '72, was appointed chair of the Department of Microbiology at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in January 2000. Luis E. Sanz, BS Biology '72, an M.D. from Georgetown University Medical School, has been promoted to vice chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Terry Lewis, BS Law Enforcement '77, his wife, Eileen Joyner, and their daughter, Becky, live in Springfield, Va. Terry is a grants management specialist for the D.C. Energy Office. 1980s Carmen Vidal-Lieberman, M.A. Foreign Languages '82, earned tenure in 1998 at New Mexico Highlands University where she is an associate professor of foreign languages. Carmen earned her Ph.D. at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and served as director for New Mexico Highlands School of Humanities from 1994-96. Jeffery W. Lewis, BS Public Administration '83, is the manager of operations support for the Capital District of the U.S. Postal Service. Paul Madison, BS Industrial Psychology '83, is a lawyer and partner in a New York-based law firm specializing in telecommunications and Internet law. Gregory George Paspatis, BA History '83, works in real estate management in Alexandria, Va., and has published a book titled Alexandria's 100 Greatest Athletes. He is the elected vice president of Alexandria Sportsman's Club. Wayne A. Silkett, MA English '83, retired from the US Army in 1992 and has been teaching employability skills in the state prison at Camp Hill, Pa., and English at Penn State University (state pen by day, Penn State by night). Edward L. Van Oeveren, BS Biology '83, passed the certifying examination of the American Board of Preventive Medicine and is certified as a Public Health and General Preventive Medicine physician. C. James Williams III, BS Public Administration '83 and J.D. '87, has opened the firm of Marks & Williams, PC, which has offices in Hopewell and Richmond, Va. The firm specializes in personal injury, workers compensation, and social security disability. He is married to Elizabeth Holmes Kesler and has five children. Amy McKenzie Dent, BS Economics '87, had her fourth child, Dominic Christian, on February 9, 1999. Her other children are Anthony (9), Julia (6), and Alec (2). John Peter Giunta, B.M. Music '89 and MA Music '94, is teaching at the Children's Studio School in Washington, DC He is also a teacher of yoga and meditation, as well as a performing musician. Giunta and his wife, Emily, have two daughters, ages 6 and 1. 1990s April (Avenius) Bolet, BA English and Spanish Literature '90, married Juan Bolet and is the mother of triplets, Nicholas, Isabelle, and Gregory. Stephanie Brodersen, BA Psychology '90, and Gregory Brodersen, BA History '91, have two children, Nicholas Donald (1) and Jessica (3 1/2). Patrick J. Donovan, M.P.A. '90, has joined the Washington, DC, law office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP as an international trade advisor. Lynna Williams, M.F.A. Fiction '90, won the first annual Lamar York Prize for Nonfiction for her essay "We Told You This, Didn't We?" She received $1,000 and her essay was published in the Summer 1999 issue of Chattahoochee Review. Tonya Amiri, BA Philosophy '91, is working on a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at VirginiaMaryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, Blacksburg, Va. Britt J. Davis, BS Parks and Recreation '91 and M.P.A. '96, is the director of development for the Virginia Association of Independent Colleges in Richmond, Va. Catherine D. Keefe, BA Communication '91, has been promoted to manager of media relations at the Travel Industry Association in Washington, DC Craig Lyon, M.F.A. Poetry '91, and Christian Nagle, BA English '91, have received funding for their collaborative screenplay, BUSBOY, to be filmed in Washington, DC, this summer. Both will also direct, star in, and compose music for the film. They have also been retained by the same investors to write a second film. Lyon is currently living in Durham, N.C., and is a medical writer for the pharmaceutical industry. Nagle is teaching English at the University of Houston while he completes his Ph.D. Jennifer Seay, BA Speech Communication '91, served as director of operations for Welch & Associates, a political consulting firm, for ten years and recently formed her own company, Century Marketing & Communications in Centreville, Va. Kathy (Crow) Bibik, BA Speech Communication '92, was married on August 7, 1999, and lives in Manassas, Va. She received a degree in Nursing from Marymount University in 1996. Briar Haggett Bogin, BA Government and Politics '92 and M.P.A. '95, and Richard Bogin, BA Government and Politics '93, celebrated the birth of their first child, Elizabeth Blake, on November 20, 1999. Jeffrey A. Campbell, BA Speech Communication '92, is married to Donna L. Campbell and they have three beautiful children, Alexa Ann (3), Elizabeth Frances (2), and Michael James (1). They live in Fredericksburg, Va., and Jeff is enjoying a career in information technology. Selena Smart, MA English '92, teaches English at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Maryland. John T. Burch, BA English '93, has moved to Milwaukee, Wis., to accept a supervisory position with Time Warner Cable. Steve Dolven, BA International Studies '93 and M.A.I.T. '95, started Datasite in Atlanta, with three offices nationwide. Datasite designs and builds data centers and networks. His son, William Palmer, was born on October 14, 1999. Heather Michele Downey, BA Speech Communication and English Writing '93, cowrote and published a national K12 curriculum using arts activities to teach disability awareness. The curriculum is being used nationally and was purchased by the Chicago Public Schools. It is also being used with more than 2,000 incarcerated youth in the Georgia Juvenile Justice system and other systems as well. Richard H. Epstein, BA History '93, has been promoted to assistant vice president at E-CITI, the e-commerce area of CITIGROUP, and will marry Maryann Paone on August 6, 2000. Musa Eubanks, BA Government and Politics '93, is a lawyer working with the Office of Corporation Counsel in Washington, DC, and has been transferred for special assignment in the office of the mayor. Tobin Foryt, BA English '93, and his wife, Kristie, had their first child, Kolby Joe Foryt, on October 22, 1999. Tobin works for Bayer Diagnostics Division of Bayer Corporation and achieved their highest ranking for a key account executive in 1999-2000: Masters Circle. The Foryts reside in Rochester, N.Y. John G. Osborn, MA Literature '93, is a lawyer and has joined the firm of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson in the litigation department, where he will serve in the energy practice group. Marcus J. Perry, BA Government and Politics '93, and his wife, Kerry Waite Perry, B.A. International Policy '95, had their first child, Andrew, on June 14, 1999. Marcus is working on his M.B.A. at George Mason and expects to finish this year. Julia Riddlemoser, M.A. English '93, is proud to announce the birth of her daughter, Francesca Annette, on December 14, 1999. Lyle Andrew Wallace, B.A. Government and Politics '93, married Ashleigh Woodall in May 1999 and is pursuing a law degree while working for a lobbying/legal service firm in Denver, Colo. James S. Du Pre Jr., B.A. European Area Studies '94, graduated from Regent University School of Law in 1999 and has been admitted to the New York State Bar. Nicole Frye, B.A. Psychology '94, earned an M.Ed. at University of Virginia in 1996 and is teaching learning disabled students at Hayfield Secondary School in Fairfax County, Va., while pursuing her Ph.D. in Special Education at George Mason. Sandra McIntyre, B.A. Communication '94, announces the birth of her first daughter, Clarissa Anne McIntyre, on July 4, 1999. Helen Kreek Workley, M.A. English '94, teaches communication and sociology at ITT Technical Institute in Lathrop, Calif. Megan Eisel Bowman, B.A. Communication '95, is the executive director of the American Red Cross Prince William Chapter. Megan completed her M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies at George Mason in December 1998. Angela T. Daley, B.A. Communication '95, married Christopher Gamber, J.D. '97, on October 10, 1999. Angela is working on an M.A. in Communication with an emphasis on film theory and documentary filmmaking at the University of North Carolina. Makale Faber, B.A. Anthropology '95, received an M.A. in Anthropology and is admitted to the Ph.D. program at the University of Virginia. She is the in-school program coordinator for City Love: The New York Center for Urban Folk Culture in New York City. Cynthia Geltz, B.A. Art (Studio) '95, won an outstanding performance award from Fairfax County Government for her work at the Reston Community Center. Darlene Jones-Huckaby, B.A. Government and Politics '95, works at Marymount University as a career information specialist in the Graduate Career Center. She is also pursuing an M.A. in Human Resource Management and Instructional Design. Katherine Sherwood, B.S. Public Administration '95, moved to San Francisco to open the first field office of the U.S.- India Business Council. James E. Mills, B.A. Government and Politics '95, is married and has a one-year-old son. He works for Bell Atlantic Mobile and manages the largest Bell Atlantic Mobile Store in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Shelby D. Barber, B.S. Public Administration '96, earned certification from the National Contracts Management Association as a Certified Associate Contracts Manager (CACM) in May 1999. Shelby is engaged to marry Goggin T. Latney in October 2000. Ted Burnes, B.A. Government and Politics '96, is entering the Ph.D. program in Political Science at Georgia State University. Mary Cunningham, B.S. Biology '96, is in her second year of medical school and has completed two years in AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. James Gillespie, M.P.A. '96, and his wife, Andrea, have a daughter, Jacqueline, born on August 21, 1999. Jose-Luis Maurtua, M.M. Composition '96, is an assistant professor of composition/theory at Central Michigan University School of Music and also performs as a guest conductor. He will be traveling to Albania, the University of Florida, and Peru to conduct concerts and his composition Muliza will be performed in Canada and Argentina this year. Erina Moriarty, B.A. History '96 and M.A. History '99, is an editorial assistant for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, located in Reston, Va. In June 1999 she married Shane W. Kerr, M.S. Computer Science '97, in Las Vegas. Colleen O'Rourke-Dixon, B.A. Communication '96, was married on September 18, 1999. Ken Stockard, B.A. Speech Communication '96, assists in the production of a talk show, Personally Speaking, which is sponsored by the U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference and airs on the newly formed Odyssey Network. Dinah Taylor, B.A. Speech Communication '96, works for Espire Communications in Maryland. Nyree Bowen, B.A. Speech Communication '97, works for the National Kidney Foundation of Florida and is the coordinator of their Kidney Cars Program. Megan Ingersoll, B.A. History '97, lives in Walnut Creek, Calif., and is an account executive in the communication and marketing services department of the University of CaliforniaBerkeley Extension. Diana Lee, B.A. Art (Studio) '97 and M.Ed. Early Childhood '99, is an elementary school teacher in Arlington County, Va. Joseph Pierle, M.P.A. '97, is CEO at Missouri Primary Care Association and lives in Jefferson City, Mo. Susan (Sullivan) Saltos, B.A. Communication '97, married William Saltos on August 21, 1999, and they now live in Arlington, Va., with their adorable cocker spaniel, Jack.
