Alumni Association ID Cards
The Alumni Association has printed ID cards in response to numerous requests by alumni in recent years. These cards will identify you as a George Mason University alumnus and can be used to attend alumni events and for verification purposes when you visit the campus. If you would like one of these cards, you may pick it up in the Alumni Affairs Office, Room 122 in the Johnson Center on the Fairfax Campus. Or you may contact us and we will mail one to you. Working Alumni Sought for Career Panels
University Career Services is seeking alumni participation in Careers Unlimited 2000, a three-day career development event to be held February 29 through March 2 on the Fairfax Campus. The program is designed to foster career exploration through interaction with working professionals, as well as to aid students and graduates in making informed career decisions.

More than 30 professional fields will be represented in panel presentations that are designed to provide students and alumni with career information related to their majors and occupational interests. Panels will be composed of George Mason alumni and faculty members, employers, and friends of the university¬all of whom will share their experiences and discuss the nature of work in their fields, employment outlook and trends, salary expectations, job hunting resources, and other topics.

Careers Unlimited 2000 is hosted through a collaborative partnership between University Career Services, various academic departments, and the Office of Alumni Affairs. Get Your Caps Tickets
The Alumni Association will again sponsor an event for alumni and the university community to attend a Washington Capitals hockey game against Tampa Bay on Sunday, March 19, 2000, at 1 p.m., with a pre-game party at The Rock. A limited number of discounted tickets are available through the Alumni Affairs Office. To order, make your check out to GMU Alumni Association and mail to: Alumni Affairs, MS 3B3, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA 22030-4444. Tickets are $16 each. Alumni Awards The Office of Alumni Affairs is now accepting nominations for the 2000 Alumni Service Award, Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award, and Faculty Member of the Year. Selection criteria are as follows:

Alumni Service Award:

  1. Community service and/or
  2. Service to George Mason University and/or
  3. Involvement with the Alumni Association and
  4. Special honors, activities, recognition, leadership

Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award:

  1. Brings recognition to George Mason through professional and personal achievement
  2. Participates in community service
  3. Awards and special recognition
  4. Active in professional, civic, educational, and/or honorary groups

Faculty Member of the Year Award:

  1. Commitment to teaching
    • Ability to inspire students
    • Professionalism in the classroom
    • Unique teaching style
    • Exceptional mentoring and/or advisory efforts
  2. Service to the university
    • Service as a faculty advisor to student organizations
    • Participation in alumni activities
    • Faculty committees, special projects, and dissertation/thesis
    • Professional recognition
  3. Service to the community
    • Outreach activities such as the University Speakers Bureau
    • Participation in charitable/philanthropic organizations/activities
