Mason Welcomes New Deans

Teresa Domzal
After serving for a year as an interim associate dean of the School of Manage-ment, Teresa Domzal has been appointed interim dean.

Domzal has been at George Mason for 16 years, rising from assistant to full professor. She has a national reputation as a scholar of marketing and international advertising, as well as broad experience as a consultant in the private and government sectors. She received her bachelor's degree from Niagara University, and M.B.A. and doctorate from the University of Cincinnati. Her appointment is effective through June 1999.

The school, formerly divided into the School of Business Administration and the Graduate Business Institute, was recently reorganized into a single unit.

Gary R. Galluzzo
Gary R. Galluzzo began as dean of the Graduate School of Education on July 1. Former dean of the College of Education at the University of Northern Colorado, Galluzzo has taught in public high schools, and has held staff, faculty, and administrative positions in higher education. He is a member of the boards of directors of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. He holds a Ph.D. in teacher education from Syracuse University.

Galluzzo has been involved in numerous professional and community service activities throughout his career, and his articles frequently appear in the Journal of Teacher Education and other professional journals. While in Colorado, he presented weekly radio commentaries on the condition of education over a National Public Radio affiliate station.

Mark F. Grady
Mark F. Grady became the dean of the School of Law on June 1. Grady has more than 17 years of experience as a legal scholar, serving as a law professor at the University of Iowa, Northwestern University, and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). A noted expert in tort, antitrust, and intellectual property law, he earned his J.D. at UCLA.

In addition, Grady has held several law-related public service positions, including head of the Office of Policy Planning and Evaluation at the Federal Trade Commission, minority counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee, and consultant on agricultural policy during the Reagan administration.

Lloyd J. Griffiths
Lloyd J. Griffiths became the dean of the School of Information Technology and Engineering on July 1. Griffiths's academic career includes 18 years as a professor and administrator at the University of Colorado, where he served as department chair of electrical and computer engineering, and nine years as a professor and administrator at the University of Southern California. His teaching and research interests have focused on the field of digital signal processing with applications in radar, communications, and adaptive array systems. His administrative responsibilities have included budget preparation and analysis, research coordination with academic departments and centers, and fund raising with private and corporate donors. He has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

Griffiths is a member of the board of directors of Information Systems Technology, Inc. (Vienna, Va.), an active member of IEEE, Sigma Xi, and Eta Kappa Nu honor societies, and a member of the American Society for Engineering Education. He has been widely published in professional journals and conference publications.

Daniele C. Struppa
Daniele C. Struppa, former chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences and associate dean for graduate studies in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), was appointed dean of CAS effective July 1. Struppa, who hold a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, brings to this position a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and administrative experience. He has been at Mason since 1988.
