1970s

Carol Bennett, B.S. Elementary Education '72, retired after teaching kindergarten for 28 years. Bennett plans to travel and spend time with her seven grandchildren.

Frances M. Finta, M.Ed. '75, received the 2001 Journal Newspapers Trophy, awarded annually by the Arlington County Civic Federation for outstanding public service to Arlington County.

1980s

Sandra Lee Hawes, B.S. Early Education '81, has earned a master's degree from the School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Florida.

Trish Porto-Forman, B.S. Community Health Education '83, who has been married 13 years, has decided to retire after 10 years in medical supplies and equipment sales, and stay home with her children, Scotty (8) and Kelsey (5).

Barbara Crystal Manna, M.Ed. Special Education '88, and her husband, Kent, announce the birth of their second daughter, Sarah Marie, on July 21, 2000. She joins sister, Kathleen Rose (5).

1990s

Mary C. (O'Brien) McPhillips, B.S. Education '92, is married to Ed McPhillips. The couple lives in Charlottesville, Va., with sons, Pete (3 1/2) and Ted (2).

Margaret J. Bergamin, M.Ed. Elementary Education '97, teaches and lives in San Diego, Calif., where she recently purchased a home.

Elaine Stripling, M.Ed. Early Childhood Education '97, and Jason Stripling, B.S. Computer Science and Psychology '97, announce the birth of their son, Evan Alexander, on February 19, 2001.
