First Honorary Degree to Alumnus

At the 36th annual Commencement in May, Michael G. Anzilotti, M.B.A. '83, became the first alumnus to receive an honorary degree from George Mason University. The president and CEO of First Virginia Bank received an honorary doctor of humane letters. He is pictured with President Alan G. Merten.

Alumni Elected to University Foundation Board

At the George Mason University Foundation's annual meeting to elect new officers and trustees, Michael G. Anzilotti, M.B.A. '83, L.H.D. '03, was re-elected treasurer. Anzilotti is CEO and president of First Virginia Bank. Robert C. Steele, M.A. '98, CEO and president, Steele Technologies Inc., was elected to his first board term, and Katherine K. Clark, M.B.A. '95, cofounder, former Landmark Systems Corporation, was re-elected to a third term.

Paul E. Kyle, president, King Wholesale Inc., was elected to succeed Lovey L. Hammel, B.S. Business Administration '88, president, Employment Enterprises Inc., as chair. Hammel will remain on the board as immediate past chair. Elected vice chair was Albert J. Dwoskin, CEO and president, A.J. Dwoskin & Associates. Carol Walcoff Dixon, president, Bellwether Research Inc., was elected secretary. David A. Roe, B.S. Accounting '89, M.B.A. '96, is the foundation's chief financial officer, and Judith M. Jobbitt is its president.

The foundation's board of trustees generates, manages, invests, and administers private support on behalf of the university. Among the 47 trustees, 12 are George Mason alumni.
