Letter from the President

Actions Today
Accolades Tomorrow

Alumni are the key to fashioning

Mason’s future. Through the Alumni Association, alumni celebrate the camaraderie that brings us together at Homecoming, athletic games, wine-tasting events, dinners, and receptions. But we also come together to set the stage for much more influential and important efforts in alumni involvement, leadership in our community, and advocacy for the university. The actions we take today are the foundation for alumni involvement and influence tomorrow.

These actions are taken not only by members of the board and alumni chapters, but also by you and your peers as alumni who get involved, share opinions, contribute resources, contribute ideas, and contribute time. Alumni involvement on our campuses is the driving force that has and will continue to make a difference at Mason.

So go online or give us a call, and share your thoughts on involvement, leadership, and advocacy. Find out how you can make a difference. And come to an Alumni Association event and celebrate the camaraderie of successful Mason alumni who are taking a bigger role in shaping Mason’s future.

In addition, I hope you will find inspiration in this issue of the Mason Spirit and embrace Dr. Merten’s commitment to making Mason a climate-neutral campus. By signing the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, Merten joined with leaders of 332 other institutions across the country to address this essential environmental concern.
