Alumni Family Event in Southern California

Show your Mason spirit at a special alumni family event featuring Women's United Soccer Association teams, the San Diego Spirit versus the Washington, D.C., Freedom, on Saturday, August 9, 2003. The match will take place at the University of San Diego's Torero Stadium at 6 p.m.

Ninety minutes prior to kickoff, alumni will be able to mingle in the Fun Zone, located inside the stadium. With a carnival-like atmosphere, the Fun Zone features live bands, food, interactive games, face painters, and more. Be sure to wear your Mason green and gold because this event is a mixer for alumni from Mason, American University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, James Madison University, Old Dominion University, the University of Richmond, the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech, and William and Mary.

Alumni Association Offers Discounted Kings Dominion Tickets

Alumni Night with the Blue Rocks

Join fellow alumni from George Mason and other Colonial Athletic Association schools at Frawley Stadium on Saturday, July 12, to watch the Wilmington (Delaware) Blue Rocks take on the Lynchburg Hillcats at 7:05 p.m. A pre-game picnic begins at 5:45 p.m. and includes all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork, and sausage sandwiches, as well as salad, baked beans, potato chips, ice cream sandwiches, and nonalcoholic beverages.Seating for the picnic and the game will be in the Pepsi Picnic Pavilion (First Base Side). The Black Alumni Chapter

The Black Alumni Chapter gained official recognition as a chapter in the Alumni Association of George Mason University at the association's board meeting in January. As reflected in its bylaws, the chapter will work to (1) unify the university's black alumni in the interest of fellowship for personal and professional enhancement; (2) establish a medium through which the chapter may support, advance, and strengthen the intellectual, cultural, social, and academic concerns of black students and the community at George Mason; and (3) be an active chapter of the Alumni Association and support the goals and mission of the university and the association. The History and Art History Alumni Chapter

For its spring event, the History and Art History Alumni Chapter toured the International Spy Museum on Saturday, March 22. The outing, with 71 attendees, was a huge success. The nature of current events involving the United States made this event a particularly appropriate choice for the chapter's gathering.

At the museum, Dave Robarge, a historian for the Central Intelligence Agency and part-time professor associated with George Mason, addressed the group, giving some insight to what the group would see and useful tips on how to absorb the information. The chapter extends many thanks to Robarge for contributing his time to help make this event successful.

"The sell-out crowd for our alumni event was extremely exciting," says Chapter President Stephen Karbelk, B.A. History '92. "We plan to continue to develop future outings equal to our first two, Gunston Hall and the International Spy Museum."
