Association & Chapter NewsAlumni Association Reaches Out to StudentsFrom annual participation in Mason Day events to a presence at Commencement, the Alumni Association this spring made a concerted effort to reach today's students. Highlights of this spring's student outreach events included distributing free blue books, Scantrons, and #2 pencils during exam week; giving away bottled water at Mason Day; and holding a special Alumni Association open house for graduating seniors. In addition, the Alumni Association again sponsored extravaGRADza! and distributed approximately 1,000 gift bags at the recent Commencement. This event serves as a special welcome to the association's newest members and helps educate our graduates about the products and services we offer, as well as congratulate them on their most recent accomplishment and introduce them to the Alumni Association. These events were made possible with the assistance of our dedicated alumni volunteers. If you would like to help with future student outreach events, please e-mail Katie Mirick at [email protected]. Under New ManagementThe DC Metro Chapter of the Alumni Association is making a comeback. Alumni need and want a place where they can network, socialize, and better themselves personally and professionally. Why not do that with some of the 60,000 alumni here in your area? We need your help. Interested alumni should contact Eric Fadden, the chapter president, at [email protected] to find out how to get involved. E-Mail AlertWith the ever-increasing amount of unwanted spam e-mail sent to users, Internet service providers (such as AOL) and e-mail providers (such as Hotmail and Yahoo!) now allow users to create junk mail filters. These filters distribute unknown e-mail messages to a separate folder that can be deleted by the user or are automatically deleted periodically. The Alumni Association wants to be certain that Mason alumni do in fact receive the MasonWire, our monthly e-newsletter. In order for this e-mail to make it to your inbox, be sure to add our e-mail address ([email protected]) to your Safe List and you will be able to stay informed about the happenings at George Mason. |
