Barron’s and Kiplinger’s, two well-respected national publications, have included Mason as one of the top educational values in the country. Mason was one of six Virginia schools listed.
Barron’s Best Buys in College Education listed Mason as one of 247 schools in its ninth annual list. Barron’s bases its rankings on tuition rates and a questionnaire that is completed by students and the dean of students. Schools listed in the book provide a high-quality education and range from publicly supported schools that are almost tuition free to those that are moderately priced.
One Mason student is quoted in Barron’s, saying, “We are not stuck in tradition here. No one will ever tell you that you can’t do something; they will say, ‘Well, it doesn’t hurt to try it and see what happens.’ ’’
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine also gave Mason best value status, ranking the university 78th in the country among public institutions. Kiplinger’s rankings were based on information provided by more than 500 four-year schools.
