Marc Broderick joined Mason as the new vice president for university development and alumni affairs in October. Broderick, who most recently was senior associate vice president for institutional advancement at Temple University in Philadelphia, brings 13 years of experience to Mason as a development and alumni affairs professional.
Broderick joined Temple University in 2002 initially to coordinate development and alumni affairs across its 14 schools and colleges. Over the years, his role expanded to include fund raising for Temple’s health system, library system, athletics, and press, radio, and school partnership programs. In addition, he oversaw the central development functions of corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, annual fund, and advancement services.
Prior to his tenure at Temple, Broderick was director of development at Goizueta Business School at Emory University in Atlanta. While there, he identified, cultivated, solicited, and directed stewardship for all major donors and managed a campaign in which volunteers solicited donors.
“Broderick brings to Mason an innovative and insightful approach to development and alumni relations strategy, programs, and training,” says President Alan Merten. “His background and experience directing numerous capital campaigns and providing strategic planning and management of centralized development functions and school- and college-based development and alumni affairs are vital to the university's overall success.”
“It’s an exciting time to be joining Mason,” says Broderick. “I look forward to building a strong future for the university alongside our many alumni, supporters, and friends.”
Broderick earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice from the George Washington University in 1993.
