Treats for the Troops

The effort is the result of a Mason community survey.

“It was evident that people at Mason wanted to do something to support those who have been deployed or are returning from deployment, and their families,” says Janet Walker, work/life and communications coordinator in Human Resources and an MMO organizer. “We just didn't know exactly what we wanted to do, so we developed the Mason Military Outreach for people to come together and discuss the next steps to take.”

For the first initiative, members of the Mason community, including Susan Kehoe-Laptew (left) and Denise Napoliello, gathered to assemble care packages to send to troops serving abroad. Socks, toothpaste, books, DVDs, and snacks were among the items donated.
