1980s

Barbara P. Gladd, B.I.S. '80, at age 76, won six medals in the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics track and field events.

Clarin C. Blessing-Olsen, B.I.S. '81, is the owner of Emergency Services Management Institute and a disaster mitigation specialist in Reston, Va.

Rita Chow, B.I.S. '83, was selected to be an initial inductee into The Teachers College, Columbia University Nursing Hall of Fame that was inaugurated at a ceremony in New York City on October 8, 1999.

Jeannette K. Saunders, B.I.S. '88, obtained an M.B.A. from Averett College in Danville, Va., in 1991 and has completed the course work for an Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University in Instructional Technology and Distance Education. She is a faculty member at Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, where she teaches undergraduate/graduate business and is an instructional design specialist.

1990s

Matt Thomson, B.I.S. Fire Service Administration '94, a fire fighter and hazardous materials technician for the City of Charleston, S.C., married Emilie West of Oakton, Va., in September, 1998.

John W. Butler Jr., B.A.I.S Criminology and Gender Studies '99, has joined the Witeck-Combs Communications firm as a communications associate.
