David Blount, B.A. History '71, is a special

Patricia Lachman, B.A. History '71, received the
J.X. Wilson award for community service in May 2000
from the Sonoma County School Trustees Association.
Janet Lekang, B.A. History '74 and M.A. History
'78, retired from the federal government and is now
a consultant on the declassification of historical documents.
Colleen Waters-Luzier, B.A. History '74, is founder
and president of the Solutions, Inc., a human
resources consulting firm based in Bethesda, Md., and a graduate
of Leadership America 2000, a national program for
women in executive and community leadership
positions throughout the United States.
George B. Johnston, B.A. Government and Politics '75,
is a partner with the law firm of Nill & Johnston, located
in Mission Viejo, Calif.
Donna Gordon Hamel, B.A. History '76, earned an M.B.A. from Georgetown University in April 2000
and works as manager for applications development at
Sato Travel.
Dennis Murphy, B.A. Government and Politics '76
and J.D. '83, was elected a circuit court judge for the
11th Judicial Circuit for Miami Dade County, Fla.
David Robarge, B.A. History and Government '77
and M.A. History '82, earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1995 and published a biography of
Chief Justice John Marshall.
Arnold Denys, M.A. History '78, has written a
book about his career in the U.S. Foreign Service titled
Son of Flanders The Making of a Consul: Diary of an
American Foreign Service Officer, published by Boarstone Press.
Daria Borsa Matacia, B.M. '78, has 28 piano and
voice students and is working on her M.B.A. She performs
solo and with the New World Band and is currently working
on a CD.
1980s
Kimdong Tran, B.S. Economics '80, earned a master
of science degree from the University of Maryland in
1984 and is the director/owner of International Immigration
and Translation Services in Falls Church, Va.
David Coleman, B.S. Public Administration '82,
was promoted to managing director of eBusiness at
Fannie Mae, Washington, D.C.
Gregory George Paspatis, B.A. History '83, is a
real estate manager in Old Town Alexandria and is working
on reopening the historic Majestic Cafe. He is the first
vice president of the Alexandria Sportsman's Club and
also writes for the Alexandria Gazette.
Virginia L. Armacost, M.S. Geography and
Cartography '85, works at the National Imagery and Mapping
College at Fort Belvoir, Va.
Leann Fisher, B.A. English '85, works from home
in Maine for a California software firm doing recruiting.
She has three children: Avery, 11; Allison, 8; and Benjamin, 5.
Frank Forman, Ph.D. Economics '85, has published
two discographies: "Acoustic Chamber Music Sets,
1899-1926: A Discography," Journal of the Association for
Recorded Sound Collections, and with Kenzo Amoh in
Tokyo, Yevgeni Mravinsky Legacy: A Recording Listing,
1938-1984, Japanese Mravinsky Society.
Amy Ritchie, B.A. American Studies '85, was named
the Jamestown 2007 statewide program coordinator by
the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, the agency designated
by the Virginia General Assembly in 1996 to represent
the commonwealth in planning the 400th anniversary
observance of the founding of America's first permanent English colony.
Linda Morelli, B.A. Art '86, adopted a daughter
from Russia and a son from Kazakstan. Her first
book, Fiery Surrender, will be published by Port Town Publishers
in August 2001.
James O. Weakley III, B.A. History '86 and M.A.
History '01, left teaching and now works on several
consulting contracts with privately held and public historic sites.
He recently completed an internship in the education
department of Gunston Hall Plantation in Mason Neck, Va.
Roseanne Cawley Kelly, B.A. History '87, serves on
the executive committee for the Fairfax County Medical
Care for Children Partnership Advisory Council and also
the board of directors of Christ Child Society of Washington.
Kevin Love, B.A. Economics '89 is a life member
of NVAR Top Producers Club and the top agent with
Remax in their Arlington, Va., office.
Jennifer L. Smith, B.S. Law Enforcement '89, has
been promoted to GS-14 program analyst with the
U.S. Customs Service in Washington, D.C.

Eric Lindenberg, B.S. Public Administration '90, and
his wife, Nora, purchased a new home in July 2000.
Their first child, Pierce Alexander, was born October 31, 2000.
Nicole Livas, B.A. Speech Communication '90,
co-anchors the 10 p.m. news on WVBT-Fox 43 in Norfolk, Va.
Tracy Evans, B.A. Communication '91, is producing
the Lifetime Television Network's The Things We Do for Love.
Amy J. Miller, B.A. Communication '91, has
joined Equipment Leasing Association as a vice president
of communications.
Pamela P. Wanamaker, M.A. English '91, is an
auditor for the Commissioner of Accounts of Arlington County, Va.
Joyce Brotton, B.A. English '92 and M.A.
English Literature '94, is an assistant professor of English and
the coordinator for the Certificate in Professional
Writing program at Northern Virginia Community College.
Brian Burns, M.A. Psychology '92, was appointed
as deputy assistant secretary for information
resources management and deputy chief information officer for
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Richard Gaudiosi, M.S. Biology '92, retired from
the U.S. Coast Guard on July 31, 2000, and now works
at Lewis Environmental Group in Medford, N.J.
Tammi Wark, B.A. English '92, and her husband,
Brian, announce the birth of their daughter, Alexandra
Nicole Marcoullier, on December 26, 2000. Tammi is working
on a book about the first women's bobsled team.
J. Bradley Borders, B.A. International Studies '93
and M.A. International Transactions '96, married Carolynne
on October 7, 2000.
Christina Michele Bright, B.A. Communication
and Psychology '93 and M.Ed. Counseling '97, married
Sean Lee Stewart, B.S. Law Enforcement '92, on December
9, 2000, in Portsmouth, Va. Christi is assistant director
of admissions at George Mason, and Sean, a student
in Mason's M.P.A. program, is a state trooper with
the Virginia State Police. They live in South Riding, Va.
Jeffrey Campbell, B.A. Communication '93, is
married with three children and enjoys a career in
information technology.
Tom Conway, B.A. English '93, was hired by
Mitchell, Wiggins & Company, LLP, in Richmond, Va., to serve
as their marketing coordinator.
Teresa Lynn (Blackwell) Corrigan, B.A.
Communication '93, married Ryan Blaine Corrigan on October 14, 2000.
Cynthia Henry, B.A. International Studies '93,
graduated from Johns Hopkins University in December 2000 with
a degree as an adult nurse practitioner. She
currently manages the outpatient heart failure program at St.
Joseph Medical Center.
Christina (Ewing) Caffo, B.A. Government and
Politics '94, was married in 1998. Her son, Nicholas, was born
in December 1999.
Hollis Kosco, B.A. Communication '94, was in
Sydney, Australia, with NBC for the Olympics.
Nikki Miller, B.A. History '94, married Scott
Miller, B.A. History '96, in 1997. Nikki is a software engineer
for Advisor Technology Services, LLC, and Scott is a
technical recruiter for Sanford Rose Associates.
Kurt Olsson, M.F.A. Poetry '94, won the 2000
Portlandia Chapbook Contest. His winning collection,
I Know Your Heart, Hieronymous Bosch, is available from

Kristianne Remington, B.A. International Studies '94,
is a graphic designer at Mag4 Media.
Julie Underwood, B.A. Government and Politics '94,
was promoted to assistant to the city manager for the City
of Rockville, Md.
Brendan Bernat, B.A. History '95, continues to
study Eastern European and Irish history and hopes to
begin graduate study. He is the assistant director of
member services for the American Chiropractic Association
in Arlington, Va.
Yvonne Cole, B.A. Government and Politics '95, and
her husband, David, welcomed their first son, Daniel,
on March 30, 2000.
Jennifer Sabatino, B.A. Biology '95, and Steven
Sabatino, B.A. Psychology '97, announce the birth
of their son, Nicholas Matthew, on November 23, 2000.
Juan Velasquez, B.A. Economics '95, graduated from
St. Thomas University School of Law in 1999 and
married Claudia Patricia Angel, B.A. Economics '91.
Timothy White, B.A. History '95, works in
information technology and lives in southern California.

from law school at Duquesne University in 1999 and is now
a public defender in Loudoun County, Va.

their first child, Charles Anthony, on October 8, 2000.

Sandra Escalante-Smith, B.A. Spanish '97, moved
to Georgia and graduated from Cameron University with
a degree in elementary education in December 2000.
Steven C. Jones, M.S. Chemistry '97, is in the U.S.
Navy completing a doctor of pharmacy degree at the
Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth
University and will become a Navy pharmacist for a three-year
tour of duty.
Barbara Kovacs, B.A. International Relations '97, is
a volleyball coach at Texas Christian University in
Fort Worth, Texas.
John E. Newcomer Jr., B.A. History '97 and
M.Ed. Counseling and Development '99, started a new career
as a counselor at McLean High School in Fairfax County, Va.
Kevin Parra, B.A. Communication '97, plans to
graduate with an M.A. in telecommunications from George Mason
in May 2001.
Debra Edmond, M.P.A. '98, is the human
resources director for the shore operations command for the
U.S. Navy in Hawaii.

finalist in the 2000 Saturn Women at Their Best Awards and

Paraskevas in 1995. They are expecting their first child. Paul is
a systems engineer for Trident Systems, Inc.
