New Services for Alumni
In response to numerous requests by alumni, the George Mason University Alumni Association has expanded its insurance offerings to include life insurance and personal property insurance. Both products are competitively priced, highly rated insurance plans, and the Alumni Association is proud to offer both of these services.

Alumni Term Life Insurance offers three different plans to fit each and every alumni need. The $100,000 Provider Plan is the most popular policy for married couples, single parents, first-time homeowners, growing families, and families with children starting college. The $200,000 Protector Plan is a better choice for alumni who are well established in their careers and families, and the $50,000 Standard Plan is ideal for young alumni, single or married, who need to start their basic foundation of life insurance. These insurance plans are administered for the Alumni Association by American Insurance Administrators. For more information, please call (800) 922-1245.

The Freedom Advantage is a unique new way for George Mason alumni to purchase auto and home insurance at special group rates. Several policy discounts are available, including multi-car, antitheft device, good student, nonsmoker, new home, and more. Premiums can be deducted from your checking or savings account via electronic funds transfer (EFT) on the first or the fifteenth of each month, so you won't have to worry about writing and mailing checks. Paying through EFT allows you to avoid service fees, interest charges, or down payments. Traditional home billing is also available. To find out more about the Freedom Advantage, please call (800) 343-4815 and receive a free, no-obligation quote for your auto or home insurance in just minutes.

Class Reunions and Graduation Celebration
Sunday, May 16, 1999, will be a very special day for all George Mason University alumni, as that date has been set for the Mason Day at Gunston Hall celebration. The event will be held in honor of the graduating class of 1999--our newest alumni--and will also celebrate the reunion classes of 1969, 1979, and 1989. All alumni, friends, and families are welcome to attend.

Gunston Hall is the colonial plantation home of our university's namesake. It is located on the Potomac River in Mason Neck, Virginia, 20 miles south of Washington, D.C. Special events for the day will include typical seasonal activities depicting plantation life in the 1700s, such as sheep-shearing and weaving, demonstrations on how George Mason lived, and a delicious picnic lunch served on the scenic grounds of the estate.

Volunteers are needed to serve as class agents to help plan and implement the reunion portion of this event. To volunteer, please call Andy Ackley in the Office of Alumni Affairs at (703) 993-8739. For more information and to receive a special invitation to Mason Day at Gunston Hall, call Alumni Affairs at (703) 993-8696.
