1970s

James Nakamura, B.S. Business Administration '78, was promoted from the CFO position to president of Mad Catz, Inc.

Chris Offen, M.B.A. '78, has been promoted to senior vice president of commercial operations at Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Marietta, Ga. Chris and his wife, Margaret, live in Marietta with their two children.

Scott Wagoner, B.S. Business Administration '79, has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer at Softek Systems, Inc., in Fairfax, Va.

Dennis Young, B.S. Business Administration '79, a teacher in Manassas City Public Schools, married his wife in 1985, and they have a daughter, Chelsea, age nine. His wife is a survivor of non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a form of cancer.

1980s

Stephen A. Lewis, B.S. Accounting '83, and his wife welcomed their third child, Emily Elizabeth, born on June 15, 1998. Their other children are Abigail Rose, age eight, and Christopher Andrew, age six.

Allyson P. Moerman Polickoski, B.S. Accounting '84, has a new position with Mary Washington College as director of financial services. She earned her CPA in 1984 and became a CGFM (certified government financial manager) in 1995.

Charles F. Helme, III, B.S. Accounting '85, is an associate principal with Thomspon, Greenspon & Co., Fairfax, Va. He and his wife, Mary, announce the birth of their daughter, Melanie Christen, born July 27, 1998.

Anne Frishmuth, B.S. Finance '86, has a new job as business manager for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a professional baseball team (Class A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves). Her second son, Jakob Aaron, was born on January 7, 1998.

Margaret C. Kovacs, M.B.A. '87, is a Navy lieutenant commander and has completed a multinational exercise in the Mediterranean and Baltic Sea aboard the hospital ship USNS Comfort, home ported in Baltimore, Md.

James Lynch, B.S. Finance '87, is a claims adjuster with CSE Insurance Group of San Francisco, Calif. James and his wife, Paula, have had their third child, Rachel, who is now almost three years old.

1990s

Erin Murphy Herman, B.S. Decision Science '90, has a new baby, Lena Sarah, born January 29, 1998.

Steve Berger, M.B.A. '90, is a manager with A.T. Kearney, a management consulting firm based in Chicago, Ill.

Christie (Lynch) Shumadine, B.S. Accounting '91, and John Shumadine, B.A. International Studies '90, had a baby boy, Justin Thomas, on June 27, 1998.

Kristin Flora, B.S. Accounting '92, and her husband, Mike, announce the birth of their daughter, Marissa Anne, born February 14, 1998.

Debra T. (Legge) Cardaci, B.S. Decision Science and Management Information Systems '93, is an administrative assistant at SAIC in McLean, Va. She was married in 1995 and lives in Centreville, Va.

David L. Johnson, B.S. Finance '95, is a financial planner for John Hancock Financial Services in McLean, Va.

Ranjana Sankhala, M.S. Information Systems '95, received an M.B.A. from The Darden School at the University of Virginia on May 17, 1998, and is working at Coopers & Lybrand, L.L.P., in Fairfax, Va.

Christopher Stephans, B.S. Accounting '98, is an accountant with Maruin B. Riibner and Associates, Kensington, Md.
