INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING1980sVanda Jones Harper, B.S. Computer Science '87, is a principal consultant with Oracle Corporation, Advanced Programs Group. Vanda works in Tampa, Fla., and considers the job �a dream come true.� She is also pursuing an M.B.A. at the University of Tampa.
1990sRalph Freeman, Ph.D. Information Technology '92, has been promoted to vice president for information technology with the LOGIX Corporation. Thad Humphries, M.S. Software Systems Engineering '94, presented a briefing on web interfaces to image databases at the Apache Web Server Conference, held in San Francisco, Calif., in October 1998. Thad is a senior software engineer at Blueridge Technologies, Inc. (www.blueridge.com), of Flint Hill, Va., and the developer of the OptixWEB product. Christine D. Balboni, M.S. Operations Research/Manage-ment Science '95, received her second Coast Guard Commendation Medal while assigned to Coast Guard Group, Buffalo, N.Y. Balboni joined the Coast Guard in May 1981 and holds the rank of commander. Brian L. Christopher, B.S. Electrical Engineering '95, has earned the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification and the Microsoft Certified Professional and Internet certification. He hopes to find a new job in Virginia or Maryland. Scott P. Overmyer, Ph.D. Information Technology '95, is associate professor in the College of Information Science and Technology at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa. Marcus A. Maloof, Ph.D. Information Technology '97, joined the faculty of Georgetown University in August 1998 as an assistant professor of computer science.
