The Mason Spirit

Today, Mason has several bustling campuses with a large on-campus student population, history, and tradition.

Tradition? Yes, we do have tradition at Mason. Our alumni remember Mason Day, International Week, Greek Week, and a host of other annual activities from their time as students that were started by our Mason pioneers and firmly established as traditions.

As alumni, we most often think of Homecoming— a week centered around a men’s basketball game in February. How is that for nontraditional? It has, nonetheless, become a strong Mason tradition.

So, it has come time for the university to build a new tradition. When you told us that Mason lacked an autumn back-to-campus program, your Alumni Association listened. For the first time ever, Mason will host an Alumni Weekend October 2–4, 2009. We are planning a weekend full of activities, social and affinity gatherings, sports matchups, intellectual forums, and artistic showcases with participation from every school and college at the university.

Catch up with friends, visit with favorite professors, enjoy our beautiful Fairfax Campus, and feel the Mason spirit. Our little nontraditional college has grown into a world-renowned university, and as alumni, we are part of that history. Come back and share in that history, and see where we are going next!
