Mason's women's volleyball team are headed to the NCAA Tournament this week after capturing the 2009 CAA title. Congratulations!
After a come-from-behind victory against top-seeded Virginia Commonwealth University, the George Mason women’s volleyball team captured the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Tuesday, November 24th. Coming just a few days before Turkey Day, I have a sneaking suspicion I know what the team is thankful for this year.
It was a down-to-the-wire nail-biter, in which Mason rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win the title match, the first team ever in CAA history to do so.
But the fun’s not over yet for women’s volleyball. The team is slated to make its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history when they travel to Ames, Iowa, for the first round. There the team will face off against seventh-seeded Iowa State on Friday, December 4, at Hilton Coliseum.
