Let Them Eat (Charm City) Cake!

Charm City's version of the new dorms

It may have rained on the grand opening of the Hampton Roads and Eastern Shore residence halls on Thursday, but the students came to celebrate anyway. Doc Nix and the Green Machine were sheltered by tents as they made their music. Festivities were moved inside Pilot House, Mason’s newest student eatery, and the line was out the door.

Many students were on hand to catch a glimpse and taste of the grand opening cake prepared by Charm City Cakes. For those who don’t watch the Food Network, Charm City Cakes in Baltimore is the base for the “Ace of Cakes” reality TV show. While Duff, the true Ace of Cakes, did not make an appearance, several Mason administrators, including President Merten and Vice President Sandy Scherrens, mingled with the crowd.

Sadly, Mason Spirit staffers did not get to sample the frosted dorms, but we hear Hampton Roads was made of red velvet. If you got to sample this almost famous cake, please tell us what you thought.
