As a salute to Mason’s tagline, “Where Innovation Is Tradition,” university officials recently launched a new initiative to capture the many innovative ideas conjured up by Mason faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
Called the Innovation Inventory, the program asks members of the Mason community to submit the stories behind the innovative projects, programs, or ideas they devise.
An innovation is anything from cutting-edge research to a simple solution to a perplexing problem. The only requirement is that the idea helped make the university a better place to learn, teach, and work.
Some examples already in the inventory include the Earth-friendly awareness program Go Green with Gunston, Mason’s renowned Theater of the First Amendment, and the Smithsonian-Mason Semester, where students study endangered animals at a facility in Front Royal, Virginia.
