Mason Produces First Holiday Video

By Jason Jacks on May 10, 2011

Move over greeting cards and say hello to the newest way to send best wishes: video.

In a first at Mason, the university created a holiday video in 2010 featuring appearances by President Alan Merten, men’s basketball head coach Jim Larranaga, and a host of students echoing the theme of the video, “Peace on Earth,” in some of the many languages spoken at Mason.

Produced by University Relations and shot on the Fairfax Campus, the video also includes an original song by Mason music professor and Green Machine leader Michael “Doc Nix” Nickens called Love, Peace, and Joy.

The video was posted on Mason’s website and on YouTube. It was also sent throughout the Mason community. All told, it’s estimated about 20,000 people viewed the electronic greeting.
