Mason has a new “it” couple.
In January, husband and wife, Daniel Quigley, BS Decision Sciences and Management Information Systems ’99, and May (Castro) Quigley, BA Psychology ’01, were voted favorite couple in the first-ever Mason Sweetheart 16 contest.
The contest, as the name suggests, featured the stories of 16 couples whose relationships were somehow connected to Mason. More than 13,000 votes were cast over three rounds of online voting.
Daniel and May met while both were members of the Catholic Campus Ministry. To get her attention, Daniel would purposely bump May, the chapel’s cantor, as she walked by him on her way to the front of the chapel to lead songs during mass.
For their victory, the Quigleys, who now have four children, received a two-night stay at the Mason Inn Conference Center and Hotel over this year’s Homecoming weekend, a welcome package featuring chocolate-covered strawberries and a sparkling beverage, breakfast, a romantic dinner, and two VIP tickets to the Homecoming basketball game.
Said Daniel in the couple’s contest application: “Our love for each other began at Mason, so Mason will always have a place in our hearts.”
