With Mason president Alan Merten retiring June 30, 2012, the university and its governing body are seeking a successor. Mason’s Board of Visitors (BOV) has selected BOV member and Mason alumna Lovey Hammel, BS Marketing ’88, to lead the presidential search committee. The committee includes several BOV members, Student Government president Allyson Bowers, a number of alumni board members, and faculty and staff members.
“The committee approaches the search work with a strong sense of responsibility,” says Hammel. “Dr. Merten has built a vision of innovation and success into the fabric of Mason. It is extremely important that we identify and recommend a new president who has the same commitment and talent to advance the university.”
