Where in the World (Is Dean Haddock)

Dean Jorge Haddock

If Dean Jorge Haddock’s passport could talk, it would tell you it needs more pages.

Since 2005, Haddock has traveled the globe on behalf of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). While still the dean of the business school at the University of Richmond, Haddock was selected to serve on site visit teams for the accrediting body. He continues his work with the organization here at Mason.

Haddock travels with small groups on behalf of AACSB to visit business schools that are seeking accreditation.

Most recently, he traveled to Lima, Peru, for such a visit. In the fall, he will chair the committee that will evaluate the business school at Adolfo Ibáñez University in Chile. In December, he goes to Paris.

“After you’ve done a few [visits], it gets easier. You know what you are looking for,” he says of the work.

And the AACSB work is in addition to what he does for Mason, which also takes him abroad. Each year, Haddock tries to attend one of the global residencies and a few professional conferences.

“When I am traveling on AACSB business, I can’t do too many things on those trips because it could be seen as a conflict of interest,” he says. “But when I am attending a conference, I try to arrange meetings with our alumni or visits to other universities.”
