Each year Mason honors a dedicated professor whose commitment to students and the university is exemplary. Few people, other than those attending the Alumni Association’s annual Celebration of Distinction, get to see the full list of Faculty Member of the Year Award winners, so we thought the 50th anniversary of Mason alumni was a good time to share it. We also caught up with a few winners to find out what they’re up to now.

Professors We Love: William Snavely

The Economics Department at the end of the 1970s was not yet the world-renowned home of Nobel laureates in a shining building on the Fairfax Campus, rather it was located in an old ranch house on a residential street a short drive away. Distance from campus was not a burden. This odd bit of office space was filled with men and women of vision and hope led by a man who had plenty of both, William P. Snavely.
